Lehman Trilogy

WINNER 5 TONY AWARDS® INCLUDING BEST PLAY

Theatre Workout offers bespoke acting masterclasses, perfect for groups watching The Lehman Trilogy, now playing at the Gillian Lynn Theatre.

The landmark National Theatre and Neal Street production of The Lehman Trilogy, directed by Academy Award®, Tony Award®, and Golden Globe winner Sam Mendes, is now playing a limited encore season at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London’s West End. Hailed by The New York Times as 'a genuinely epic production', The Lehman Trilogy is a sweeping story of a family spanning generations and a company that changed the world.

John Heffernan, Aaron Krohn and Howard W. Overshown bring their 'virtuosic performances' (The Mercury News) to London, following a critically acclaimed run in San Francisco, playing the Lehman brothers, their sons and grandsons in this thrilling 'tour de force of acting talent.' (KQED Radio).

On a cold September morning in 1844, a young man from Bavaria stands on a New York dockside dreaming of a new life in the new world. He is joined by his two brothers, and an American epic begins. 163 years later, the firm they establish - Lehman Brothers - spectacularly collapses into bankruptcy, triggering the largest financial crisis in history.

SCHOOL WORKSHOPS

The Lehman Trilogy offers benefits for Drama, English and Business Studies students, and Theatre Workout's workshops are an ideal way to maximise the experience.

Drama and Performing Arts students can benefit from Acting workshops, exploring multi-roles playing, breaking the fourth wall, narration and text-based drama.

It is a play that makes you think about how these brothers, and later their family, impacted the world's economy culture. With it's use of narration, playing out of historical, chronological events, there is a Brectian element to the show too.

English students can explore creative writing and storytelling, exploring the use of narration and epic monologues, how characters are created, and how historical events are brought to life on stage.

Business Studies students can benefit from practical workshops about public speaking, building confidence and conviction in your ideas, leadership and collaboration. They can also benefit from talks and discussions on the Business of Theatre, learning more about how the theatre industry impacts the wider economy and culture, and how it's success algorithm works.

* Now playing until 5 January at the Gillian Lynne Theatre, Theatre Workout's unofficial workshops are tailored to your group on request.
